About us

What is the Growth Impact Fund?

A social investment fund. We offer businesses investment and support entrepreneurs to grow their impact and sales. We support organisations with diverse representation at board and leadership level.

Who created the Growth Impact Fund?

Big Issue Invest and UnLtd have partnered to create this new fund with support from Shift. The Growth Impact Fund is supported by professional investors only. The fund has received investment from organisations including Bank of America and Access Foundation.

What is the issue?

Investment needs a radical redesign.

New evidence is highlighting the barriers that underrepresented founders face. The Adebowale Commission has shown that social investment does not serve social entrepreneurs. Institutional racism and other discrimination remain a critical problem.

We've designed the Growth Impact Fund by listening to social entrepreneurs. Their insights have helped build a fund that works for them..

Who is it for?

The fund is for organisations that have more than 75% representation at board and at least 50% representation at Senior Leadership Team of individuals who fall into one or more of the following categories:

Solo founders, and organisations that demonstrate a clear commitment to improving diversity, equity and inclusion are also eligible to apply.

Our impact

We see our impact as being threefold:

To reach approximately 120 organisations. We will help these organisations access the social investment and support that they need to grow. We will also help them meet their business goals and increase the diversity of their leadership.

To help the clients and customers of organisations access excellent services. Our support will help reduce inequality in our communities, sector and service.

To use our learnings and influence to support the social investment sector to be more inclusive in its funding. To support leaders maximise their impact, irrespective of background. To put in place a learning process that supports the improvement of the fund, and the market we are operating in.
